OHA in the Community
The 2023 Hawaiʻi State Legislative Session opened on Jan. 18 and representatives from the Office of Hawaiian Affairs (OHA) were there to meet and talk story with legislators. 2023-2024 Nā Hokua STEM Scholarship Now Open
The purpose of the Nā Hokua STEM Scholarship is to assist full-time or part-time Native Hawaiian undergraduate students pursuing a STEM certificate or degree at a University of Hawaiʻi (UH) System Community College (CC) or Education Center (EC).
Students must be of Hawaiian ancestry and pursuing a STEM field of study. Please contact us if you are unsure if your field of study qualifies as a STEM field. Students from all islands are highly encouraged to apply.
- The prospective recipient must be attending classes at a UHCC (Hana EC, Hawaiʻi CC (Hilo), Hawaiʻi CC – Pālamanui, Honolulu CC, Kapiʻolani CC, Kauaʻi CC, Kō EC, Lahaina EC, Lana i EC, Leeward CC, Certificate or 2-year Programs at Maui College, Molokai EC, Waiʻanae Moku, Windward CC)
- The prospective recipient must be of Hawaiian ancestry
- The prospective recipient must be majoring in or have the emphasis/intent to major in a STEM field of study
- The prospective recipient must be enrolled at least part-time (6 credits)
- Preference will be given to applicants who have completed 12-36 credits by the end of the Spring 2023 semester
- Preference will be given to applicants pursuing a professional certificate or associate degree
