Hawaiʻi monarch King Kamehameha was honored at the U.S. Capitol on June 11 with a lei draping ceremony attended by several Hawaiʻi officials – including Office of Hawaiian Affairs trustees, members of Hawaiʻi’s Congressional delegation and state and county officials. Coinciding with Kamehameha Day celebrations in Hawaiʻi, the 48th annual event was organized by the Hawaiʻi State Society of Washington, D.C., and included performances by hula hālau from Maryland, Viriginia and Washington, D.C.
