Five college-bound students received Papakōlea Community scholarships at the homestead community’s second annual pā‘ina on Aug. 12. Chanel Kahanu ’O Keola Walker, Kamali‘i McShane Padilla and Pi‘imoku Ma‘a Kahealani Keahi received $1,500 Community Education Scholarships. Triton K.M. Ramos and Victoria Ulalia Solatorio received $600 Special Education Scholarships. Two other awards were given at the Papakōlea Pā‘ina: Eliza Kaimihana was honored with the 2017 Papakōlea Living Legacy Award and Ethel Teruko Leiroselani Mau received the 2017 Papakōlea Cultural Practitioner award.
