Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls National Day of Awareness

Ka Wai Ola

A day of remembrance for Missing and Murdered Native Hawaiian Women, Girls and gender diverse individuals. Across Canada and America, red dresses are displayed in public spaces to symbolize the absence of these individuals and the violence they have faced. In Hawai‘i, Native Hawaiian women and girls are over-represented in cases of domestic violence and sex trafficking, and 37% of child sex trafficking victims are Native Hawaiian.
