People of Hawaiʻi
Here’s an important question: What comes next for the land the US military leases from the State of Hawaiʻi?
The lands like Pohakuloa and Makua Valley have been used as live-fire training sites.
You know what they paid to blow up the ʻaina for 65 years?
A dollar. Not a dollar a year. Or a little more than a penny-and-a-half a year.
The military wants to keep the land, so more of the same or change?
There is no automatic renewal. It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity.
The military will pay any price. But elections have consequences, and the incoming president is unafraid to grab what he wants.
To sign on the line, the people of Hawaiʻi need to ask for something momentous.
So what’s the ask?
Well, the US Navy spent $13 billion dollars on a single aircraft carrier. 13 billion dollars would do amazing things for our keiki.
